Councillor expenses get restrictions

A new expense policy for councillors has been given the thumbs up by city hall. It posts restrictions on what taxpayer money can be used for after questionable items such as late-night limo rides and expensive dinners were brought to light by colleagues.

Although the actual budget of $53,000 hasn't changed, restrictions have been placed on meals, travel and on the amount of money given to charity.

A detailed report of city councillors' expenses will be posted on a city-run website later on this year.
