Punch Andrews passes away at 43
It is with a heavy heart that I write this to you. Unfortunately, after a relatively short battle with lung cancer, Chris "Punch" Andrews has passed away at the age of 43 at the South Regional Health Centre in Newmarket.
The hospital maintains that they've never seen a patient with SO many friends and family! Punch has been in the hospital for a couple of weeks and in that time, he has had so many well wishers from all of his messages on his Facebook account to his Chris "Punch" Andrews Support Posse also on Facebook...he was so incredibly well liked, respected and loved.
Chris touched so many lives from everyone here at Astral Radio Toronto to all of his students at Seneca students to everyone who's ever worked with him or met him.
Punch had a tremendous heart and passion for radio. He absolutely LOVED everything about it and made our Saturday nights at MIX FM so special - not to mention the many years he worked evenings as the PUNCH MAN!
Punch will be sadly missed by us all.

Saying Goodbye To One Of Our Own
April 3rd | Silvana Aceto - CFRB
With heavy hearts we say goodbye to one of our own. After a short battle with lung cancer, Chris "Punch" Andrews passed away, last weekend. Thursday, mourners paid their final respects to the 43-year-old MIX FM jock and CFRB traffic reporter.
Chris' best friend Kenny Caughlin, told a Newmarket church overflowing with mourners, "this is not goodbye", and he will see Chris again when it's his turn and he'll know where to find him, "on the eternal radio station, GOD FM."
"He would have been quite touched by all of his colleagues and friends and listeners who have come out to remember him," Morning News Anchor Jane Brown said Chris will be dearly missed in our hallways.
"He was always optimistic, his spirit was just unbelievable," Traffic Reporter, Guy Valentine said his co-worker and friend was positive right up until the end.
"Definitely a sad day, Chris was just a really good guy and were going to miss him," Vice President and GM of MIX FM, CFRB and EZ Rock, Pat Holiday, said.
Chris leaves behind his parents, his sister and four nephews and nieces.
