Downtown closures in effect
The city of Toronto has shut down the Don Valley Parkway in its entirety for Spring maintenance. All northbound and southbound lanes between highway 401 and the Gardiner Expressway are closed until 5 a.m. Monday morning.
Listen to Ryan Bird's report
The closure will allow for sign maintenance, work on pavement markings and drainage, repair of guiderails and asphalt, as well as tree-trimming, grass cutting, maintenance of lighting and the closed circuit T.V. cameras.
The city suggests using Bayview Ave., Victoria Park Ave., Don Mills Rd. and Kingston Rd. as alternates.
Yonge St., from north of Eglinton into the downtown core, will also be closed for much of Sunday morning due to the Sporting Life 10k Run.
There will be a closure of the Parkway and Gardiner June 1st for the annual Ride for Heart.
Fall maintenance will close the Parkway September 6th and 7th, and the Gardiner September 21st and 22nd.
