thanks tk for putting this forum up! so many of my girlfriends (and I) had a tough time telling our parents we were gay. Time has passed and the healing has got better for mom and dad. Their biggest worry was - hey we won't have any grandkids! Well let me tell you, my partner shari and i have been together for 2 years and she is pregnant. My parents and hers are over the moon. I'm not saying things are all better in the household, mom understand more then dad, but let me tell you, once i was out, i was a whole lot better and i felt better because i wasn't hiding anything.

I'M COMING OUT!!!!

Hey Taylor i just wanted to share my coming out story. I'm a 32 year old male and i grew up in a very small town just outside of Toronto. My town I think knew i was gay before i did. i was into colours when grunge was in, i hung out with all the girls at my school. and if they ever needed a makeup artist for the shcool play they asked me first! Well one night I was out with my parents for dinner. My mother asked me what I was going to do with my life. I said i wanted to be a make up artist in film. She thought that was great saying i could meet so many of "my" kind of people. I then asked her what are you talking about. My mom said David we know you're gay and you sure as hell are not going to meet a nice guy in this town! She was right. I got the heck out of dodge and I never looked back. My boyfriend and I have been together for 4 years. We met at work! I had it easy when i came out but i know for so many of my friends, they had a hard time telling family members and close friends and most of them lost family members and friends becuase they told them they were gay. Being gay is not a disease, it's who we are! Good Luck to those of you who are yet to come out! Break on through to the other side, it's really not that bad you'll have a whole bunch of support once you do! love ya dh
